About SME Con'21
SME NITK Convention'21 is a fun-filled with events for 2 days. The chapter is organizing different events for the students of mining engineering and allied branches from across the country.
Students from various colleges are invited for these competitions and win exciting cash prizes. Students engaged in various informative lectures by industry experts from various fields.
With the events like Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation, the students get the opportunity to interact with faculties of NITK.
Having organized the 1st SME NITK Annual Convention successfully in March 2020,it is going for 2nd Annual Convention exclusively open for all Mining & Allied Engineering disciplines.
PAPER PRESENTATION
People from fields of Mining and Allied Engineering branches are invited to present their paper to a panel of judges by conveying their orignal and creative idea in a simplistic manner. The idea is to inculcate the knowledge of upcoming research to the attendees of the event. A Participant must convey the research paper through a substantial piece of writing and the panel might ask questions to the the participants whenever they seem fit.
POSTER PRESENTATION
Poster Presentation is a way to communicate your research understanding of a topic in a short and concise format. A topic will be provided to the participant and the will have to prepare a creative poster relevant to that topic.
MINE THE BRAIN
Get ready with some basic knowledge in mining, brush up your concepts, come participate in mining quiz and grab exciting prizes. There's no fixed syllabus for this quiz, all that can be said is the quiz will be based on mining and relevant concepts. Get ready to Mine your Brain.
Just A Minute (JAM)
“Take care of your minutes and the hours will take care of themselves.” The Just a Minute competition tests student’s creativity, presence of mind and command over language all within a span of one minute. It invites the student speaker to speak on a given topic without hesitation, repetition or deviation.
CASE STUDY
The event where the participants have to come up with some new innovative designs and strategies to overcome the problems given at hand. The questions are designed may be related to environmental problems faced by mining industry, optimising the production in mining etc. The students should come with great ideas to be discussed along with some detailed questioning by the judges which gives the participants an insight of its importance in today's industries.
